Posted on August 13th 2008
Work for the 2012 London Olympics has now started in Portland, Dorset, which will be the venue for the sailing events, costing £7.1 million.
The construction, which will be carried out by G & H Group over the next nine months, will be bringing the marina scheme into existence.
The Olympic site will consist of 15 business/retail units, 5 commercial units, bar and restaurants and a marina facility. There will also be a boat storage area and space for 470 cars.
Work is also taking place on the marina itself, where 250 births will be used by the London Organisation Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG). Completion is planned for October, but the opening of the marina births will be April 2009.
