Volunteers rescue boat is stolen by thieves
Posted on October 09th 2009
A volunteer safety team are appalled after their flood and river rescue boat was stolen by thieves in the early hours of Saturday 3 October.
The Worcester based team is run by a local fire fighter in St Peters, the £15,000 20ft Valliant powerboat had been chained up against a lamp post outside his home, awaiting repairs when it was stolen, along with £1,000 of equipment which was inside the vessel.
The safety team use the boat all across the region to help with stranded people in floods and river rescues. As most of the team are trained fire fighters they are able to deal with such incidents and even deal with medical attention if needed, whilst awaiting help from the paramedics.
Police are asking for anyone who has any details of the missing boat to report it straight away; it cannot be missed with its bright orange colour and blue lights.
