Two die in boat accident
Posted on March 30th 2009
Four men were seen in the water in the early hours of Saturday morning near Kilchurn castle following a boating accident. Rescue crews consisting of a royal Navy helicopter, police and the coastguard, were called to assist in the search.
Despite the rescue crews efforts the fog was thick and visibility was down to less than five metres. Rescue boats managed to find two of the four missing men after spotting their life jackets floating in the water. Both victims were declared dead at the scene.
Two of the men are still missing; it is believed that they are dead. Rescuers have announced the maximum time for a victim to survive in water before the cold affects them would be around 30 minutes.
