Transplant Survivor to sail round Britain
Posted on March 31st 2008
Jacqui Dowding, a kidney transplant survivor, is planning to sail around Britain this summer to raise awareness for organ donation and transplantation to show that those people who have had a transplant can still live normal lifestyles and also help the Royal National Lifeboat Institutions sea safety campaign.
A regular presenter at Yacht Clubs and RNLI road shows, she is well known to many on the south coast. She has also conducted over 50 SEAchecks for the lifeboat services.
The Newhaven Lifeboat Sea Safety officer commented that she is one of the most active sea safety advisors on the South Coast and is proud to have her on his team.
The voyage will start on 16th May when she will leave Brighton and sail on to Great Yarmouth for the first leg of her expedition. She will eventually visit 30 points, from Orkney to Dublin, in a link up to RNLI Stations.
Jacqui’s boat the ‘Svanevit’, a Hallberg Rassy Monsun 31, will be crewed by friends, RNLI crewmembers and sea safety volunteers.
