Tin Can Boat to attempt record breaker
Posted on February 18th 2008
An American Writer, who has built a boat using aluminium from ‘Home Depot’, a US DIY Store, is planning on doing a round the world voyage and hoping to beat the current record breaker of 57 days, 13 hours, 34 minutes and 6 seconds.
He plans to make the circumnavigation in his 50ft aluminium trimaran, known as the ‘Tin Can’, within 4 months. At present this seems unfeasible due to the current conditions of the Southern Ocean.
David Vann has already attempted this trip, however his boat sank beneath him. He is hoping that his boats positive floatation will save him from it happening again.
