Thick fog causes fishing boat to lose the way
Posted on February 23rd 2009
A fishing boat that ended up within a thick fog had to be rescued by Port Talbots Lifeboat crew on the Bristol Channel on Friday Evening.
The 16 foot vessel, which contained three crew men made the call to be rescued after they were stuck in fog that gave them just 50 metres of visibility, making it impossible for them to find their way back up the Afan River.
The lifeboat crew found the fisherman after a 15 minute search using whistles, radio contact and flashing torches, they then lead them back to the mouth of the river.
Before setting off on your boating trip, ensure you check the forecast and always tell someone, should the unforeseen occur.
