Statistics show more adults are taking to the water

This years survey has been taken out on water sports and leisure and results show an 8 raise in the number of Adults taking part in boating activities since last year, from 3.7 to 4 million.
Since 2002 the figures have been slowly declining, however this years results have shown participation numbers last reported in 2004.
Canal boating has recorded the biggest increase this year and seven out of the twelve boating activities recorded, such as sailing, racing, motor boating and Yacht Cruising has risen since 2006.
2008 is the sixth year that the survey has been undertaken by the British Marine Federation Statistics and Market Research Department, in partnership with the MCA, RNLI and RYA.
The Chief Executive officer of the British Marine Federation commented that the 2007 water sports participation study shows how popular and important to the UK Leisure market Boating remains.
