Southampton Boat show receives gold
Posted on September 01st 2008
The Southampton Boat Show, which is due to open on 12th September, will be opened by 2008’s Olympic Gold medal winning sailing heroes.
The Gold medallists, Ben Ainslie, Iain Percy and Pippa Wilson, who are all from Hampshire, will be declaring the show open along with the rest of their sailing team, Andrew Simpson, Sarah Ayton, Paul Goodison and Sarah Webb.
The show which will be celebrating its 40th Year since it was first started by Norman Kemish will be hosted by boating legends and TV personalities over the past 40 years. This will include the Skandia team who will be arriving alongside Mike Golding, Southampton’s round the world Yachts man on his Yacht, ECOVER 3.
The PSP Southampton Boat Show organisers are hoping that the gold medal line up, including Dame Ellen MacArthur, will bring in more of a crowd than last year’s record breaking success of around 127,000 people over the shows 10 days.
