Sea lions sunbathing sink boat
Posted on September 03rd 2008
A boat owner returned to his 24ft boat in Newport Beach Harbour in California to find only the mast sticking out of the water.
Basking Sea Lions have been blamed for the sinking vessel as two of the creatures climbed onto the boat and their weight being too much for the wooden vessel.
An increasing number of Sea Lions have been coming into the harbours and methods of netting the boats have been put in place to stop the creatures getting in, but these have been unsuccessful in protecting the boats.
