Sailors urged to stay on dry land
Posted on March 10th 2008
Winds of up to 82mph have hit the UK over the past 12 hours, with Wales and South West England being the worst hit, and it looks as if things are going to get worse before they get better.
The maritime and coastguards agency website is advising boaters to observe the weather warnings and stick to dry land until it clears as extremely difficult weather conditions are expected out at sea and on exposed coastlines.
Severe gails are forecasted this afternoon and into the early hours of Tuesday with 80mph Gail force winds off the southwest coast and 60mph winds expected inland.
