Sailing down the canal for a jolly holiday
Posted on October 08th 2008
Have you ever thought about going on a UK canal holiday? As the cost of booking a foreign holiday is growing many people are being encouraged to take a canal holiday instead. British Waterways are promoting the green, hassle-free alternative to flying overseas.
Each year 200,000 people take to the water and set off on a canal holiday. A canal weekend holiday can start from as little as £60 per person, which makes it very competitive with overseas holidays.
In Britain there are over 2,200 navigable rivers and canals so exploring a range of cities and rural areas is possible depending on your tastes.
British Waterways and boat hiring facilities are teaming up to show the public of Birmingham just how good a canal holiday could be. You are invited to speak to fully trained experts who will be on hand to give you information and advice about hiring a boat. If you find that your curiosity is still not fulfilled you can also experience a short free boat trip to experience life on the move.
The event is taking place at the rear of the National Indoor Arena (NIA) by the bridge to cross to Brindleyplace, also Gas Street. You can go along Friday 10th October between 11am – 6pm and Saturday 11th October 10am – 5pm.
Make sure you have boat insurance in place for your vessel and get comprehensive insurance from www.insuremyboat.co.uk
