Return of the Lively Lady
Posted on July 04th 2008
After two years on a round the world sailing experience, stopping off at 27 ports in 18 countries, the Lively Lady yacht is due back in Portsmouth waters on Saturday 5th July.
The Lively Lady Project was setup to help disadvantaged young adults to realise their dreams and potential. It has been supported by Raymarine, the marine electronics company based in Portsmouth.
The historic boat had been bequeathed to the city of Portsmouth by its owner Sir Alec Rose, who sailed the wooden boat to Australia and back in 1968, so that it could be used to help young adults achieve their dreams.
Now 40 years after the return of Sir Alec’s original epic journey, Portsmouth can celebrate again a feat of endurance and courage with its expected return to Gunwharf Quays.
