RYA increases involvement in drawing up industry standards
Posted on April 21st 2008
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is to increase its contribution to drawing up the servicing standards for liferafts on leisure craft.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are supporting the move after the latest Marine Accident Investigation Branch’s report highlighted the poor condition of liferafts after a collision between two fishing boats resulted in one of the boats liferafts failing to fully inflate.
Up to now the RYA has had a prominent role in creating the ISO standards for the construction and manufacture of recreational use liferafts.
