RNLI come to the rescue of two boats
Posted on October 05th 2009
RNLI's all weather lifeboat came to the rescue of one skipper after his boat was becoming hazardously close to rocks on the Groyne in South Shields.
The RNLI had already been out to attend to a fishing boat which was dangerously drifting from the rivers shore on Sunday 26 September; the boat was taken back to land, saving the boat owner as well as other moored boats in the area from any damage. On the way back from the rescue, the crew were then called out for the rescue of the power boat which had collided with the rocks already. Luckily the crew were close to the rescue of the power boat as the sailor was in danger of being thrown in to the water amongst the rocks. One they had towed the boat away from danger, the rescue was then taken over by a volunteer crew from a nearby sailing club who pulled the damaged boat back to shore.
