New years honours for Britons gold medallists

All Britons sailors who were awarded gold medals in Beijing 2008 have been recognised in the new years honour list. The RYA Chairman has said he is delighted that the sailors have been recognised for their great success and enormous effort and hard work.
Ben Ainslie headed the honours after been appointed a CBE after winning his third Olympic gold medal in China. This would have been his fourth Olympic medal after he claimed silver at Atlanta in 1996.
Ben is just one of the team who received their well deserved medals. Other members of Britons sailing team have received MBE’S or OBE’s. Steven Park who has lead Team Great Briton to victory for the second year in a row has been awarded an OBE. Steven has over seen Britons most successful Olympic sailing campaign in china with the sailors winning six medals in total – four gold’s, one silver and one bronze.
