Boat Insurance News: New boat tax for 2010
Posted on November 23rd 2009
If you currently use your boat, yacht or dinghy down a UK Broad you will find that come next year you could face an increase in tax of 6%. The increase is to be discussed by the Broads Authority today at its headquarters in Norwich. If the tax plan goes ahead boat owners could see increases of up to £14 a year if they still require use of UK Broads.
This is yet another increase to boat owners, after they where hit with a similar 6% increase at the beginning of this year. The figure had originally been set at 9% but this was rejected after fears that the increase would reduce the number of people that went boating.
The rise in tax will see the Broads Authority concentrate its resources on dredging, to improve water quality, after recent figures revealed that boats owners say this as the main priority.
