Mink causes damage at Brighton Marina
Posted on November 07th 2008
Boat owners at Brighton marina have had to be on the lookout for a Mink that has a tendency to chew on the boats moored in the marina.
It has already chewed a hole in a £100,000 luxury powerboat and has apparently been seen at large for ten days.
It is unsure if other boats at the marina had suffered a similar fate as many owners were away due to the recent bad weather.
The boat owner, Mr Maurice, was unhappy with the response of the marina staff as he felt that they didn’t see the mink as their problem to deal with, even though mooring fees can be in the region of £3,000.
It is thought that the mink is descended from animals released, from a mink farm that used to be in the area, by animal activists in the 1960’s.
