Lifeboat needs saving
Posted on September 15th 2008
A lifeboat crew, who were carrying out a training exercise, had to be rescued when their vessel became trapped on a sandbank off the coast of Lln Peninsula.
The four man crew were on a training exercise at 10.30am yesterday near Porthmadog where there are places of shallow water and changing channels. The boat became stuck on the bank at Carreg Coch and had to be rescued by the Porthmadog harbour master and taken to shore.
The RNLI commented, “This is why training is carried out as things can happen to anyone. This crew are very professional and very well trained.”
The crew were due to return to the lifeboat at 7pm yesterday evening when the tide came in.
