Immediate remedy of burns
Posted on August 19th 2009
It sounds like something from a Warner Brothers Wylie coyote cartoon when Wylie's tail sets alight after his own trap for roadrunner backfires he jumps into icy water to put out the flames complete with comical steam. However when a man sustained burns to his skin after a gas cylinder exploded on his boat he jumped into the sea in Wylie fashion to cool his injuries.
His wife remained on the boat to put out the small fire as the man launched himself into the water in order to remove the source of the burn from his skin.
Guernsey's marine ambulance was called to the scene at 10 pm on Thursday 13 August and treated the man's burns before he was taken to Herm and then Princess Elizabeth Hospital on Guernsey for injuries sustained to the mans face, arm and legs. The current condition of the sailor is unknown however the woman remained unhurt.
