Haylakes lifeboat relocation
Posted on February 11th 2009
The location of Haylakes Lifeboat and crew members were moved over the weekend to a new revolutionary and energy efficient building.
The new home of ‘The lady of Hilbre’, which was completed back in November, features under floor heating which is reclaimed from the heat stored within the sand. This has been designed to keep the crews accommodation warm and dry out their heaving clothing following rescues.
Heylakes new station has been situated upon the Beach of the Promenade and is set to reduce the crews response time by 5 minutes as the tractor and boat used are now joined together.
The new station and a new lifeboat currently stands at £5 million, £1 million has already been raised by the locals, however an appeal is still running.
