Harbour in Wales requires funding
Posted on November 09th 2009
Council officials for a North Wales harbour are requesting more funding following recent developments that have affected other parts of the mooring facility with a buildup of silt.
Conwys harbour is currently known as the "premium yacht harbour", however council officials for the area are concerned that its status will be short lived following parts of the harbour becoming built up with silt. Dredging is required around the jetty for short term improvements, however in the future a new jetty will be required, which could cost more than £220,000.
In 2005 and 2006 major works were carried out on the waterway, however the developments to the quay has now lead to the suffering of the boat jetty, which would mean the inner mooring pontoon could be useless for the berthing of yachts, causing a knock on effect to the revenue made for the area from its users.
Meetings by councilors will be carried out shortly to discuss the finances of the matter which could initially see £20,000 spend on dredging and a further £170,000 on a new jetty.
