Grabbing a bargain!
Posted on October 14th 2008
Whenever you sell anything on an Internet auction site make sure that you know what your doing. A German man ended up selling his 21ft boat for the 22.50 euros because he forgot to place a reserve price on the auction site.
The boat owner was expecting to at least receive 12,000 euros, which was the low end of the price of the vessel.
At the last minute the man tried to remove his boat from the auction by saying there was a technical error or fault with the auction when he realised the price that he was going to receive.
The judge in the case ruled that the sale was a legally binding sale and so the boat had to be sold at the 22.50-euro price rather than its full price of 12,000 euros plus.
