Fuel bait makes boats blow
Posted on July 14th 2008
Police are warning boat owners to be vigilant towards their boats and their fuel. It seems that the rising cost of petrol and diesel is being blamed for the fuel thefts. The problem has not just hit the UK it is happening across the whole world.
A few boat owners have had their fuel stolen from Exmouth and since then others have decided to devise a booby trap fuel idea. They are leaving bait fuel cans which have fuel mixed with acetone in. When the fuel is used it will blow the engine of the vessel.
The local police have said that they understand the reasons behind this idea but cannot condone it. The police have instead advised that boaters should make sure that a locked fuel cap protects their fuel.
