Fraudster hijacking website selling boats
Posted on February 02nd 2009
A man has copied a boat website changing the contact details to his own to try and make money from the customers of the real website.
The fraudster who has not been caught as yet is attempting to sell boats that are being sold by a well-known marina by trying to obtain the credit card details of their customers to take deposits from them.
Owners of the real site only found out that the impostor was doing this when a concerned customer phoned and asked why a man with a strong Spanish accent was saying that he is the managing director of the company.
The police are aware of the situation but are unable to do anything as yet because no transactions have been made as yet through the website.
