Fairline to cut factory jobs
Posted on September 29th 2008
The luxury boat builder Fairline is to cut 90 jobs at its three factories in Northamptonshire.
The news comes after the company had opened its new Nene Valley 2 factory costing £8 million in the spring and having what was considered a successful Southampton boat show with some 30 new orders for its squadron 55 boat.
The majority of the jobs will be lost from the production department with some backroom staff going as well.
However the company was said to be responding to the global economic downturn which it expects to continue into 2009 and although regrettable the losses were needed to sustain the long term security of the business.
