Dropping the children at school safely
Posted on November 12th 2008
Motorists are placing children’s lives in danger by illegally parking close to primary schools across the country. Norfolk Police and County Council in conjunction with the local schools have started a trial to see if the parking offenders can be stopped.
The new scheme has been designed for anyone to report an offending vehicle to the police. Parents, teachers and local residents have access to a dedicated e-mail address and phone and text service. This was problem cars can be reported to inform the police.
Each of the three schools also has a schoolwatch post box for people to post their concerns about particular vehicles. Having the available telephone number, e-mail address, text service and post boxes in schools the trial is hoping to iron out the offenders.
Once a report has been made officers from the local establishment will attend the area and observe the rouge vehicle. Records will be kept of offending vehicles and a letter will go out to them warning them that court action will be made if further illegal parking takes place.
