Diving crew rescue stranded skipper and his wife

A diving crew from Bolton came to the rescue of a skipper and his wife after they became stranded in violent sea waters in Scotland.
The 50 foot boat had become stranded after it began to drift towards rocks near Cumbrae islands harbour in Scotland. The skipper's wife had tried to stop them from being swept in to the rough waters or colliding with the rocks by throwing in a mooring rope. Due to the strong waters the rope wrapped itself around the propeller causing more damage.
Westhoughton diving club, who had heard the cries of the skipper attended to the distressed crew pulling the boat ashore. One of the divers decided that he would dive in the waters and investigate the problems, finding the problem with the propellers. Each of the divers took it in turns to cut the robe free using a breadknife which was found aboard the vessel.
As a reward to the divers the skipper treated them to a pint in the local pub, thanking them for their hard work.
