Deja vu boat
Posted on June 17th 2009
Donaghadee, County Down, coastguard crew was witness to an unusual event this weekend. This was after a 16ft Shetland cruiser had to be rescued twice in two days after the vessel had broken down twice in the same spot. The vessel, which was being used for fishing trips on both occasions, had left Millisle on Saturday and Sunday carrying four to three people.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: 'One breakdown could be considered as unfortunate but two would indicate a carelessly maintained boat,' he then added that it is up to the crew of the boat to ensure, 'engines are properly serviced and fuelled before they go to sea. Lifejackets should always be worn and these, too, should be checked at regular intervals.'
