Council support young seamanship training
Posted on May 15th 2009
After three years of spending its time on dry land Shaka, an 18 foot zulu style Yawl will be put to the use for training young people to sail.
The project will be supported by Aberdeenshire council who will also be providing it with a free birth at Banff harbour marina.
Brighter Horizons, a youth charity, were presented with the boat but due to a lack of trained personnel they were unable to put it to use but now the remaining members of Banff and Macduff Youth Development Group, who originally built the vessel back in 2006 are looking forward to getting it back in to the water to train young people in traditional seamanship.
