Cornwall hit with Bio diesel boat
Posted on August 29th 2008
Fuelled entirely by bio diesel, the powerboat Earthrace has docked in Cornwall and part of a plan to raise awareness of renewable fuels.
The boat with its four-man crew broke a 10-year circumnavigation of the globe record when it crossed the finish line in June. Its 24,000-nautical mile trip took the crew 60 days, 23 minutes and 49 seconds.
The boat will be docked in Fowey until Saturday, and then the vessel will be on its way around the UK and Europe.
During the record-breaking event the crew had to contend with bad weather conditions, equipment breaking down, and being shot at in south America. A gentle relaxing boat journey if ever I heard of one.
