Compensation payout for pub landlord
Posted on January 14th 2009
A landlord who was exposed to asbestos when his pub was being renovated has received a large compensation claim as he has been diagnosed with mesothelioma years later.
The gentleman from Manchester was diagnosed with mesothelioma in March 2008 after his exposure to asbestos during the 1980’s when the renovation was taking place in the Ashton Hotel, Ashton under Lyne.
Within the hotel there was a suspended ceiling, which was pulled down in the renovation in 1985. When the ceiling was removed he was present. It was later realised that the roof contained asbestos and him and his family were then evacuated.
He was also exposed to the substance in the pubs boiler room also.
