Coastal weather set to be rough for the weekend
Posted on March 28th 2008
According to the Met office the UK coast is set to see rough seas and poor weather for the weekend.
With maximum gusts ranging from 29 knots up to a projected 56 knots round the southwest and sea states turning from moderate to very rough, this weekend may not be the best of times for a sailing trip.
Winds are expected to hit gale force 8, with Lundy and Hebrides possibly getting winds as strong as gale force 9. This coupled with rain and squally showers will make for poor sailing conditions.
With lifeboat launches from Lyme Regis, St Ives, Aberystwyth, Calshot and Harwich in the last 24hrs the overriding message to sailors must be to take precautions if going out onto the water, if at all over the weekend.
