Caffari set sale in the Vendee Globe Yesterday (9th November) making a magnificent start putting her at centre stage of the race. Caffari is hoping that this will promote her in France, in believing that she has a chance of becoming the new Ellen MacArthur.
An excellent start to the race was made by Caffari, in her boat Aviva. Shadowing Vincent Riou, who was the winner of the last race, she continued on trading places with Jean-Peieer Dick, in Paprec Virbac and also Seb Josse in BT.
By achieving such a prominent position, Caffari became the talk of the town. With live TV coverage, viewers were able to capture he fantastic start to such a great race.
With strong winds to be tackled, Caffari commented that she was pretty confident and had made sure that she had done a lot of heavy wind stuff in the boat. She also commented that, “Everyone wants to set off and push really hard and get straight into the race but the balance might be better if you get though the difficult first bit and then settle down in to something more manageable, making sure we get into the rhythm of our race.”
