Boat insurance requirements in Aberdeen
Posted on March 04th 2009
Aberdeenshire Council are introducing requirement to vessels that are berthed in their harbours to have a minimum of third party insurance.
Boat owners who have their boats on the council run harbours, including Banff, Macduff, Portsoy, Rosehearty, Stonehaven, Johnshaven and Gourden need to have their vessels adequately insured, with a minimum of £500,000 liability insurance.
Neighbouring authorities have already implemented the boat insurance requirements to ensure that the boat owners are protected against risks that may arise whilst berthed in their havens.
For the 2009-10 season, 245 requests have been received by boat owners for use of the harbours, with 73 already holding the correct boat insurance policies.
