Boat fire safety week launched in Hereford and Worcester

Boat owners in the Hereford and Worcester area are being urged by the fire services to protect their vessels from fire. As part of the fire safety week, which will be running from May 25th until May 31st and the aim of the campaign is to get boat owners to be more fire aware.
The chief fire officer, Paul Haden, has set is as his task to get more of the boat owners to fit fire alarms to their vessel and to take extra safety measures if needed. He said: “Anyone in doubt about the alarm they need should contact us on 0800 032 1155 for a free boat fire risk check,”
Other safety advice includes: Taking extreme care when refuelling with petrol or changing gas cylinders; avoiding using portable gas equipment and storing canisters in special gas lockers or open places.
