Fortunately the craft was not badly damaged so was able to sail back to Falmouth for repairs, a helicopter was called out but stood down as is saw the vessel was not sinking.
The incident happened on Wednesday at around 1220 GMT, visibility was down to around 300m when the merchant ship saw it had around three minutes to avoid hitting the vessel but unfortunately did so. This could have been much worse.
