Bluebird rises from the sea for final voyage

The jet powered boat, Bluebird K7 in which Donald Campbell lost his life, is in the process of being rebuilt. Bill Smith who has recovered the shattered fragments has now rebuilt 98 of the aluminium shell.
The vessel is 26 feet 4 inches pointer hydroplane, which on its last voyage has been recorded doing 328 mph when it crashed. Donald Campbell was attempting the world water speed record in January 1967.
The wreck and body of the driver were recovered in 2001.
The vessel will be complete in 2009 and will make on final voyage before going to its new home at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston.
