Bad conditions of waterways
Posted on June 20th 2008
There have been formal complaints made to the British waterways in reference to the poor conditions of the cannel at the Liverpool end.
This part of the waterway is littered with floating debris. It seems that it could be coming from nearby warehouses but there seems to be no sight of anything being done about it. Local workers have said that there doesn’t seem to be any attempt to stop the kids that are doing this.
It is not just a small area either. The last 11 miles of the cannel coming into Liverpool is being described as ‘deplorable’. There is junk floating around, over grown trees and hedges coming across the whole of the width of the cannel.
There are plans to seen open the new cannel to the Albert Docks but with this section of the cannel as it is, it will be impossible to use it productively.
The issue people are finding is that the utensils that are needed to tidy up this area are just being left unrepaired and unused.
