Australia first CO2 Marina is certified
Posted on August 15th 2008
Australia’s first certified no CO2 marina, Soldiers Point in Port Stephens, New South Wales, has been presented with a carbon neutral certificate of this month’s Sydney international boat show.
The certificate was presented by the NSW minister for ports and waterways following the launch of Australias low carbon marina initiative which was launched in April 08 by the Marinas Industries Association.
The marina adopted many new initiatives to reduce and offset its emissions; this includes enforcing the use of complimentary pushbikes for its customers and installing energy efficient lighting.
Carbon credits are also purchased by the Marina from the Australian department of climate change, which are certified as green house friendly.
