Abandoned Pirate Boat
Posted on March 18th 2009
A boat with a pirate flag has been found beached off Desborough Island in Shepperton.
The 32-foot cabin cruiser was thought to be leaking fuel and it was the responsibility for the Environmental agency to remove the boat from the water and put it into storage until they could find the owner. All boat owners have the responsibility to ensure they do not cause unnecessary disruptions to others on the waterway. They have a strict policy for boat owners that disrespect the laws of the River Thames.
The agency have to locate owners of sunken, stranded or abandoned boats. The owner Pirate Pete was finally located and charged with abandoning his boat he will have to pay all the recovering costs or loose his boat.
