A new boat brings new horizons
Posted on November 13th 2009
A company in Gloucestershire have created a RIB cleverly engineered to submerge itself underwater. Severn (7) Shipbuilders have designed this boat in the hope that it will have the ability to carry out maintenance works on a number of underwater constructions. The company hopes that the vessel will enable divers to travel on the water surface to the desired area, where they then would be able to use the boat to submerge and carry out the work required.
The vessel works by using a collection of cleverly places electric motors, tubes, valves and vents to allow the boat to work both above and below the waters surface. The crew of the vessel will all be trained as helmsmen and would be wearing breathing apparatus and the equipment needed would be in the boat during the maintenance work.
The vessel is designed using marine grade aluminium and is constructed using a standard transverse and longitudinal frame, which allows access to the RIB through an open canopy roof.
