1kw Green fuel cell introduced for motorboats
Posted on March 05th 2008
A new green fuel cell is being promoted by specialist company Voller Energy, for use in motorboats as an additional generation source to cover overnight resources.
The 1kw Emerald fuel cell can be installed for use as a night time generator for installation alongside other onboard systems, running off of LPG, calor gas or propane, which is then reformed in to hydrogen.
It will quietly charge the batteries on demand, with zero vibrations, producing heat to warm water over night, therefore greeting you with a hot shower in the morning, without having to turn on the engine.
The cell, which is hoping to be on sale by the end of March, has been tested on a Bénétreau, which crossed the Atlantic, covering over 3,000 nautical miles, withstanding up to 7 G of force.
It seems that Voller have not only produced an environmentally friendly product but one that can also withstand all sailing conditions.
